Huntsville, Alabama - Salvation Army

Provides Emergency shelter for women and men. Also has temporary lodging for battered women. The shelter is opened at 6:30 pm. Please note 8:45 pm is the latest time for check-in unless other arrangements have been made. Three nights are free (per month), then the fee is $35.00 for one week. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Hot meals are served daily at the shelter. Breakfast is from 5:30 to 6:30 am. Lunch is from noon to 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday and 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Dinner is from 5:30 - 6:00 pm on Monday through Friday. Also offered are substance abuse (drug and/or alcohol) programs. This a a Christian based program and the treatment lasts for six months. Support groups are available too. Assistance for food is offered. A box of non-perishable food that feeds a family of four (3 meals a day) is provided. Referrals need to be made through the Foodline or DHR. Evening hot meals are available to all. Check for locations. The mobile soup van also provides food.
