Before Visiting Your Local Shelter or Support Center:

• Do contact them using the contact information we have provided.
• Do have a pen, pencil, computer or something in order to take notes.
• Ask the name of the person you contact, use it, remember it or make a note.
• Be courteous at all times. You can get a lot more help from someone who knows you appreciate their help.
• Please understand with the economy being the way it is many organizations are in desperate need of donations and volunteers.
• If the shelter or center is full and has a waiting list, please do get on their list. You never know, you may just need their services later on.
• If they are unable to help you there, do ask if they know of any other resource available in the area.
• Be sure to thank the person you speak with. They are often underpaid, if they are paid at all. Also, they are more likely to remember and help you next time.
